Affordable Care Act / Outreach and Enrollment

The 2018 Marketplace Open Enrollment Period (OE5) will begin on November 1, 2017. For Federally-Facilitated Marketplaces (FFMs) OE5 will run from November 1 to December 15, 2017. State-Based Marketplaces (SBMs) were able to determine the length of their OE5. In Region VIII Colorado is the only SBM; their OE5 will begin November 1, 2017, and run through January 12, 2018. Consumers who experience certain qualifying life events may be able to obtain Marketplace coverage outside of open enrollment through a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). People can apply for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) at any time of year.

Health Centers are uniquely positioned to be at the forefront of helping clients to enroll in either the State-Based Insurance Marketplaces or the Federally-Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The resources and information available on these webpages can help Health Center staff become more knowledgeable about the ACA, assist with their outreach and enrollment needs, and help educate clients about how to understand and utilize health insurance.
