The 2016-2017 Marketplace open enrollment period begins on November 1, 2016 and ends on January 31, 2017. Consumers who experience certain qualifying life events may be able to obtain Marketplace coverage outside of open enrollment through a special enrollment period (SEP). People can apply for Medicaid or CHIP at any time of year.
Health Centers are uniquely positioned to be at the forefront of helping clients to enroll in either the State-Based Insurance Marketplaces or the Federally-Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The resources and information available on these webpages can help Health Center staff become more knowledgeable about the ACA, assist with their outreach and enrollment needs, and help educate clients about how to understand and utilize health insurance.
