Julie began her work with CHAMPS in April 1995. Her primary responsibilities are to oversee the implementation of CHAMPS’ strategic plan and to work with the CHAMPS Executive Committee and Board of Directors to lead the organization in achieving its mission. Julie’s major accomplishments during her tenure with CHAMPS include increased visibility and effectiveness of the Association, increased membership in the Association, increased non-federal and federal revenue of the Association, and increased collaborative partnerships. Julie earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University in Washington, DC and a Master of Nonprofit Management from Regis University in Denver, CO where she received the Karen Patterson Award for Community/Organizational Change and graduated with Honors. Prior to working for CHAMPS, Julie worked for the Freer and Sackler Galleries of Art/Smithsonian Institution and US Representative Patricia Schroeder. In her free time, Julie enjoys traveling and spending time with her friends, family, and rescued dogs.

Jen’s role at CHAMPS is to support the Region VIII health centers with their clinical quality improvement efforts and work towards best practice by offering clinical educational programming. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Baylor University and a Master of Public Health Degree in Community Health Sciences with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Joining CHAMPS in 2015, Jen brings ten years’ experience in non-profit management, including leading the development of a startup organization, Mothers’ Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes. In her free time, Jen enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and their very energetic dog, Hannah.

Andrea’s focus at CHAMPS is giving Region VIII health centers the tools they need to attract and retain a talented and dedicated workforce as well as serving the additional needs of CHAMPS members. Andrea joined the group in October 2004. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Art, Music, and Museum Studies from Luther College in Decorah, IA, and previously has used her skills at non- and for-profit cultural organizations throughout Denver. When not at CHAMPS, Andrea loves to backpack, climb, garden, paint, play the violin, and especially to enjoy the company of her husband Dusty, daughters Sophie and Asha, and dog Roxy.

Emily joined CHAMPS in September 2021. She will be focused on the coordination and implementation of CHAMPS’ programs in support of health center staff recruitment and retention and health professions education and training. Prior to starting at CHAMPS, Emily earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado Boulder in International Affairs and Anthropology, and a Master of Arts degree in International Development and Global Health from the University of Denver. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and baking, crafting, cheering on the LA Dodgers, and binging her favorite TV shows. As a Colorado local she loves the great outdoors and exploring all the state has to offer, which includes many adventures with her rescue puppy Ralphie.

Cat joined CHAMPS in October 2021. In her role, she will work on the coordination and implementation of CHAMPS’ member services, contacts management, and communications efforts along with providing support for additional CHAMPS activities. She possesses a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Purdue University along with a Dual Master’s in Social Work and International Development with a concentration in Organizational Leadership and Policy Practice from the University of Denver. Cat has worked in the nonprofit field for many years in a variety of roles, largely focusing on immigrant and refugee rights. Outside of work, Cat enjoys hiking with her dog Lilly, listening to podcasts, and hanging out with friends and family.

Kristen joined the CHAMPS team as the Programs Coordinator, Pandemic Response & Preparedness in August 2021. Her focus is on the coordination and implementation of CHAMPS’ COVID-19 response programs while providing support to Region VIII health centers on emergency preparedness and public health. Kristen has been a NICU nurse for 20 years. Kristen also brings several years’ experience of being a Clinical Nurse Educator for the University of Colorado Health where she created and delivered education to NICU and Lactation medical staff throughout the Northern Colorado Region. Kristen graduated with a Master of Public Health degree with a Health Disparity concentration and is excited about her opportunity to work in community health. In her free time, Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband Matt and 3 children Lily, Nico and Cecilia. She loves backpacking, pottery, reading, listening to podcasts and playing with her two pups.

Jess joined CHAMPS in July 2021. She is at the helm of the coordination and implementation of CHAMPS’ Health Equity programs, and provides support for additional website, clinical quality improvement, advocacy, and other CHAMPS activities. Jess received her Bachelor of Science in Community Health from the University of Illinois and is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Management. Prior to joining CHAMPS, Jess focused on volunteering, interning, and working at several different health focused organizations throughout her undergraduate career. In her leisure time, Jess enjoys all things outdoors including working out, running, hiking, and camping. She also enjoys cooking, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
