Julie began her work with CHAMPS in April 1995. Her primary responsibilities are to oversee the implementation of CHAMPS’ strategic plan and to work with the CHAMPS Executive Committee and Board of Directors to lead the organization in achieving its mission. Julie’s major accomplishments during her tenure with CHAMPS include increased visibility and effectiveness of the Association, increased membership in the Association, increased non-federal and federal revenue of the Association, and increased collaborative partnerships. Julie earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University in Washington, DC and a Master of Nonprofit Management from Regis University in Denver, CO where she received the Karen Patterson Award for Community/Organizational Change and graduated with Honors. Prior to working for CHAMPS, Julie worked for the Freer and Sackler Galleries of Art/Smithsonian Institution and US Representative Patricia Schroeder. In her free time, Julie enjoys traveling and spending time with her friends, family, and rescued dogs.

Jen’s role at CHAMPS is to support the Region VIII health centers with their clinical quality improvement efforts and work towards best practice by offering clinical educational programming. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Baylor University and a Master of Public Health Degree in Community Health Sciences with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Joining CHAMPS in 2015, Jen brings ten years’ experience in non-profit management, including leading the development of a startup organization, Mothers’ Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes. In her free time, Jen enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and their very energetic dog, Hannah.

Andrea’s focus at CHAMPS is giving Region VIII health centers the tools they need to attract and retain a talented and dedicated workforce as well as serving the additional needs of CHAMPS members. Andrea joined the group in October 2004. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Art, Music, and Museum Studies from Luther College in Decorah, IA, and previously has used her skills at non- and for-profit cultural organizations throughout Denver. When not at CHAMPS, Andrea loves to backpack, climb, garden, paint, play the violin, and especially to enjoy the company of her husband Dusty, daughters Sophie and Asha, and dog Roxy.

Missy joined CHAMPS in August 2020. Her focus is coordinating and implementing CHAMPS COVID-19 response programs and providing support to Region VIII health centers on emergency preparedness and public health. Missy received her Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with an emphasis on Human Health from the University of Massachusetts. Missy recently received her EMT license and brings several years’ experience providing support to healthcare clinics in Colorado regarding environmental, health and safety (EH&S), and emergency preparedness. Her largest project was to create a Pandemic Influenza Response Plan and Emergency Stockpile for a large healthcare organization that was coordinated with state and local partners. In her free time, Missy enjoys spending time with her two kids, quilting, and hiking in Boulder.

Eleanor joined CHAMPS in September 2020. She is responsible for coordinating CHAMPS’ health professions education and training (HP-ET) programs to better support a strong and sustainable health center workforce. Eleanor received her Bachelor of Science in Economics and her Bachelor of Arts in French at the University of Oregon. Prior to joining CHAMPS, Eleanor served as a Peace Corps Education Volunteer in Guinea, West Africa and as an International Development Intern for an after-school education program in South Africa. Eleanor loves an afternoon of painting, reading, hiking, chatting with friends, and listening to many podcasts.

Helen joined CHAMPS in July 2018 and is responsible for spearheading CHAMPS’ Outreach and Enrollment and Special and Vulnerable Populations programs, implementing CHAMPS’ advocacy plan, supporting clinical quality improvement efforts, and otherwise assisting CHAMPS with trainings, data projects, and networking for Region VIII health centers and Primary Care Associations. Helen received a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Lewis & Clark College and a Master of Science in the Politics of Conflict, Rights, and Justice from SOAS, at the University of London. Prior to joining CHAMPS, Helen worked at the Institute for Behavioral Genetics at the University of Colorado as an Assistant Study Coordinator and at Africa Development Promise as a Resource Development Intern. Helen loves to spend her spare time hiking, reading, hosting gatherings, making kombucha, and listening to NPR.

Ashley joined CHAMPS in March 2020. Her focus is assisting Region VIII health centers with workforce recruitment, retention, and educational opportunities, as well as meeting CHAMPS’ communication needs. Ashley received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with an emphasis on Public Health from The University of Minnesota. Prior to joining CHAMPS, Ashley’s background was focused on food justice and nutrition education—volunteering, interning, and working at several food pantries and food banks in Minnesota and Colorado, including co-founding the Nutritious U Food Pantry. In her free time, Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband Jordan and their rescue dog Daisy, cross-stitching, cooking, and traveling.
